First Light at Freeman Park Pier

Image

First Light at Freeman Park Pier

You have to get up pretty early in the morning to catch the pier with the lights on. But it’s worth it.

Tide Offerings

Tide Offerings

There is a subtle melody to seashells as they dance in and out of the surf with the ebb and flow of the tide. They are the wind chimes of the sea, and I will miss their sound when I am no longer near the ocean.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Trying to get in as many ocean sunrises as I can before we leave the beautiful coast of North Carolina for the heavenly forestry and lakes of Michigan.

Something a Little Different

Video

I won’t be able to post a lot for a bit, due to an upcoming cross country move. So I thought I’d try to make up for it with a video. I shot this video this morning on my Droid at Carolina Beach, NC.

Under the Pier

Under the Pier

I quite often take these shots under the pier on cloudy mornings because I know the reflection will be better. I usually don’t share them because this particular pier is a bit crooked and I never like the way the lines line up. This is the first one I’ve deemed share-worthy. Hope you like it!

Devotion

Devotion

The heart can think of no devotion
Greater than being shore to ocean –
Holding the curve of one position,
Counting an endless repetition.

~Robert Frost

Behold the Sea

Image

Behold the Sea

Behold the Sea,
The opaline, the plentiful and strong,
Yet beautiful as is the rose in June,
Fresh as the trickling rainbow of July;
Sea full of food, the nourisher of kinds,
Purger of earth, and medicine of men;
Creating a sweet climate by my breath…

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

A Curious Cloud Surprised the Sky

Image

A Curious Cloud Surprised the Sky

A curious Cloud surprised the Sky,
’Twas like a sheet with Horns;
The sheet was Blue—
The Antlers Gray—
It almost touched the lawns.

So low it leaned—then statelier drew—
And trailed like robes away,
A Queen adown a satin aisle
Had not the majesty.

~ Emily Dickinson

The Shining

The Shining

I hope your Sunday was as bright and beautiful as mine. I’ll be up bright and early hoping to see something spectacular to share tomorrow! Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead! Sweet Dreams : )

Rays of Light and Reflection

Image

Rays of Light and Reflection

As the sun ascended into the heavy, low-lying clouds the reflection flashed on the sand like a thunderbolt. Some might say it was almost electrifying. ; )
